It may not always be a party...but it's always a "festa" with a Tempesta! :~}

Have I told you lately that we LIVE football?

One of the football parents was able to get the Pee Wee team tickets to the Pre Season Bucs vs. Dolphins game. The kids were extremely excited to go and much to my surprise, I had a great time. The thrill was in watching the boys get excited over a touch down, or simply seeing a player wear the same number as they do. We had a large group and I was worried at first. But, the boys sat together and did fantastic for almost the entire game!

All of the Cowboy Pee Wee's sitting in the stands waiting for the game to start

If you know us, you know we aren't really football fanatics, so it should be of no surprise that Scott actually tried to catch some zzz's while the game was in progress. Branden found this funny and wanted to record it. He has the Flip video camera 2" from his face and he doesn't even know it.

The boys getting very excited about a touchdown. This scene truly was the best part of the evening.

Remember, this game took place on a Saturday night. These boys have to be AT the field by 8:30 am. I highly doubt any of them napped inbetween the games. This is the group that was still hanging with the crowd at 10:00 pm.

A few Saturdays later, Kolbie was invited to a birthday party. You guessed it. Football team and football theme. The final count ended up consisting of about half of the Pee Wee players and they had a blast playing mini golf and getting some time in the batting cages. Although, I honestly believe they wanted to go huddle up and tackle on the driving range. Eh...I'm not so sure the grown men that were there trying to improve their drive would have appreciated that. ;)

Have I told you that we LIVE football?

First Day of School.....a month later ;)

So, I'm a little behind. Here are a few pictures of the kids before the school year 2011-2012 began.

B typically refuses to have his picture taken at any given moment and the first day of school is no exception. However, he did allow me to snap this picture of some spider man underwear that he found while school shopping. He admittedly said "I feel weird saying this, but I kinda want these." One day, he'll look back at this picture and wish he had seen things my way and just posed in front of the school. ;)

Kolbie before beginning his first day of 3rd grade.

Kourtnie and I having breakfast with Kolbie before her last 1st day of school before starting High School. ;)

The Art of Annoyance

Some of you may know that our 1st born channels Howie Mandell and his OCD. B gets angry at Kourt for her less-than-Branden level of hygiene. Kourtnie and I are both fortunate enough to have thick hair....but this leads to much of it coming out upon a good washing. It often ends up in the drain in the shower where it sits for who knows how long. B was complaining about this and although I understand, I tried to explain it's sometimes hard to manage while your hands are wet. I asked Kourt to attempt to do a better job "managing" it. Fast forward a few days. B comes up to me still dripping wet from the shower just a tad disturbed at something he found and he made me go look. I know I should not have laughed, but I simply couldn't help it. Below is a picture of what Kourt left for Branden. Technically, she did manage it better. After the laughter subsided, I made her clean it up. Branden "Howie Mandell" Tempesta is recovering just fine. ;)

Our "schedule"

Ok, you empty nesters and retirees......I’m in envy mode at this point.   I know, I know....there’s still pool maintenance and yard work, and the house still has to be cleaned. The grass isn’t greener over there.....I just perceive that there is less of it. ;~}  So, let me take this opportunity to attempt to give you an idea of what our schedule is like:

5:30 I get up and get ready to walk/run for 3 miles with a neighbor.
5:45 Meet neighbor
6:00 Scott gets up for work
6:30 Run is complete. Get ready for work
7:00 Wake up Kolbie (who is NOT a morning person)
7:20 Make breakfast
7:30 Leave the house to take Kolbie to Summer Camp
7:50 Clock in to work....where I sit in a chair in front of a computer and listen to music while I work. Which usually leads to thinking of what songs I can add to improve my cheer music for competition....which isn’t until October.
11:30-12:30 I take a lunch, but this is when I run errands. Bank, pick up something for the kids or for the Cowboys, get gas, post office. You know. All the things everyone else does at lunch which makes the lines longer. ;)
3:00 ish Scott leaves work. He heads home on his 45 minute drive and picks up Kolbie from day camp. He goes home and does laundry, sweeps (yes, I’m serious. He even moves the couches to get underneath), dishes, etc. Whatever he can do to help. He also uses this hot ass time of day to train. He has to complete 1.5 miles in under 16 minutes to pass the physical test to be able to volunteer for the Sheriff’s Office. He’s got it down to 15:37.
4:55 I clock out & head home
4:58 I pull in the driveway. Love that the office is so close to home!
5:00 I cook dinner & finish any laundry that has to be done. I pack water and a snack for Kourtnie & I and fill Kolbie’s water jug with ice water. I get changed for practice.
5:50 We leave with all 3 kids. We drop B off at BHS for football practice. Then we head in the opposite direction to the Cowboy’s Field.
6:30 Practice begins. Kolbie was asked to be quarterback. And I know I’m partial, but he is simply fantastic. J  There is no Varsity football team because most of the boys went to high school. So, they merged the JV & Varsity cheer squad into one. Which leaves me coaching 23 girls. And more are coming out every day. It will be a HUGE squad. Somehow, I find myself excited about this. You need a lot of girls to do the stunts that get you more points. But, you also need a lot of tequila to deal with the drama that these girls produce. Will anyone question me at practice if I tell them my margarita is a mountain dew slurpee from 7-11? ;)
8:30 Practice ends.
8:45 Kids shower. I get dinner ready and we eat.
9:30 After Kolbie has passed out---often on the floor in my room or on the couch.(Yes, we move him to his bed almost always. He's just getting so heavy! LOL) I clean the kitchen. Wash any football/cheer stuff that’s needed for the next day. I make sure no laundry needs to be moved from the washer to the dryer before I go to bed. I update the cheer webpage with the cheers we learned and any videos. I work on cheer music and maybe try to get some T.V. time in with Scott.
11:00 Attempt to fall asleep.

But who’s keeping track? LOL If I don’t answer the phone or text right back, the above schedule is the reason.

Thankfully, for right now, I don’t have to get everyone up for school. And we will drop down to 4 nights a week for practice soon. Next weekend begins our “Field Saturday’s”. We get there in the morning and leave around 4. The most amazing thing about this schedule is that we are more productive and “on top of it” than when we have downtime. We used to tend to come home from work and veg out. I know now I only have an hour between work and practice and I don’t sit down. Keeps the kids busy and out of trouble. It’s good exercise. And it really is a great group of people that make it fun. We were never sports people. And Scott surely was never a football guy. But, I must say.......even talking about the pass that Kolbie threw brings tears to his eyes.

Everyone says “This is the good stuff.” They must be right, because I don’t find myself needing much of a reminder.

Much love,
Enjoying it, but Tired mom

Conversation with a 5 year old

Don't you love the questions about death? I swear I would rather talk about sex with the kids. That conversation ends quicker and there is no crying! LOL

M: is me, K: is him.

K: When do you die?
M: When you get old.
K: How old? Old OLD or just old?
M: (Wanting this conversation to be over, but knowing it has so just begun!) Really old.
K: Like when your skin looks like mine after playing in the bathtub for a long time?
M: Yes.
K: Am I going to die?
M: (ARGH!) Yes, a long, long, long time from now.
K: What if we have an accident in the car.
M: I’m very careful.
K: Even while you are typing on the phone and driving?
M: (Shit! He can see me?) That’s bad. Mommy won’t do that anymore.
K: Good. Because if you do, we could die and our skin wont be old.
M: (Is this over yet?)
K: But wait, if everyone dies when they get old, I am the youngest one in the house. I am going to be here all alone. (Now crying.)
M: (I hug him.) You know how me and daddy are married and have kids? We have our own house and family. When gramma dies (Yes, I see the error now, thank you) I wont be home alone. I am here with you. See. You will have your own family.
K: Gramma is going to die!? Oh my god! (Sobbing uncontrollably)
M: Sweetie, you don’t have to worry about this. I promise. Nothing is going to happen.
K: Ok. But I don’t want to die alone. I want to have a dog.
M: (What the ……..?) Ok. Get a dog.
K: Ok, I will.

Long pause. I can see the thought coming……………….and here it goes.

K: OH NO! (crying again.) I wont have a car and I will be all alone and I don’t know where PetCo is! I won’t be able to get a dog!”

M: (thinking…..knowing he loves French Toast Sticks.) Hey, I got French Toast at the store yesterday.
K: YOU DID! YAY!

Oh thank god.

Hope you got a laugh……I’m exhausted. :<)
